Mariela Garibay (Peru, 1976) approaches sculpture as a form of human connection. For her, a sculpture is not merely an object, but a language through which memories and universal emotions are shared. Behind each work lies a long process of patience and dedication, during which an idea gradually evolves into a tangible form.

Educated in Sculpture at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and in Urban Design at the University of Barcelona, Garibay developed an artistic vision in which technical mastery and sensitivity go hand in hand. Her talent was recognised early on through several prestigious awards, including the Winternitz Prize on two occasions and First Prize in Peru’s National Drawing Competition.

Mariela Garibay’s sculptures are inhabited by poetic, childlike figures who view the world with wonder, gentleness, and sincerity. Although her work is figurative, it does not seek realism but rather emotional truth. Her characters embody small moments of happiness, curiosity, and friendship. They serve as reminders of the beauty that is often hidden within everyday life.
